Cubs Rally For Late Win Over Storm Chasers
Iowa got a first-rate effort from pitcher Laurn Spicer, who frustrated Omaha hitters en route to a 3-1 Cubs triumph at Principal Park. The win went to Jack Smitherman in relief. His record improves to 7-2. Kelly Acitelli took the loss. Benjamin Hullis, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 29th save.

Antwon Ferrer hit a run-scoring double off Nick Thompson in the bottom of the eighth, which put the Cubs in front, 2-1. In addition to the double, Ferrer had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.

"Makes our job easier," said Ferrer, "when our pitchers shut the opposition down."

At 70-61, Iowa is in 4th place in the Pacific Coast League American Divison.
