The New York Mets knocked off the Pittsburgh Pirates, 7-6, at Best Buy Ballpark. It took 11 innings. Alanzo Morales was a prime reason New York won. The first baseman went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. New York pitcher Ryuji Kumagai got the win. He's now 3-3. Dan O'Neal was tagged with the loss. The 5th-place Mets now have a record of 28-30.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Vennancio García? The New York right fielder had a run-scoring double in the top of the 11th inning to put the Mets on top, 7-6. For the game, García had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"A lot to like, just frustrated that we came up short," said Pittsburgh manager Aaron Calderon.
