Honolulu Loses, 11-9, to Sacramento in 12
|
The Honolulu ThunderSharks could not turn a fine performance from pitcher John Howell into a win. Instead, the Sacramento River Cats prevailed, 11-9, in 12 innings. Howell threw 7.2 innings allowing 2 runs. After today's action, Sacramento sits at 66-62, while Honolulu falls to 61-67.
The decisive blow was delivered by Kirby Johnson in the bottom of the 12th when he hit a 2-run home run off 25-year old right-handed pitcher Clint Heinig to win the game for Sacramento. The home crowd went nuts.
"Winning in the last at-bat, there's nothing else like it," said Johnson.
