Raymond Rips Inland Empire for 5 Hits
|
A jubilant Johnny Raymond joined the postgame press conference at Southwest University park to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Inland Empire 66ers pitching staff he had just vanquished.
"It may not have looked like it," said the El Paso Chihuahuas second baseman, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different."
That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-5 hitting performance, which led to the 7-1 Chihuahuas win.
"He made it look easy," said J.D. Fayson, manager of the 66ers. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously."
Johnny Raymond singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 7th.
Currently Raymond is batting .273 with 3 home runs, 28 RBIs and 48 runs scored.
