Rangers Claim 7-3 Win
|
The Texas Rangers defeated the New York Yankees, 7-3, in Western Region action at Globe Life Park in Arlington. Texas pitcher Daniel Hoekstra had a standout performance. Hoekstra got the win, improving to 5-4. He gave up 4 hits and walked 1 over 7.2 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Peyton Montenegro, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 15th save.
Edward Blake was 1-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI for Texas. The two-time All-Star had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Mike Peck. It was his 21st RBI of the season.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Blake said.
