Daniel Hoekstra was outstanding against New York. The right-hander, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2054 draft, had a slider that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a Rangers 5-3 win. Hoekstra yielded 2 runs over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 3, and struck out 9. His record improves to 2-1. Despite the win, the Rangers have a lousy 19-39 record.

Ibrahim Izaguirre hit a bases-clearing double off Dan Jay in the bottom of the fifth, which put the Rangers in front, 4-1. In addition to the double, Izaguirre had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.

"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Izaguirre told the Texas News.
