Tucson Claims 9-6 Victory
|
The Tucson Sidewinders topped the Iowa Cubs, 9-6, at Greater Nevada Field. Tucson center fielder Ruy Hinojosa was a spark plug for the offense. He went 3-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Caleb Hartig, who went 6.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 5 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 2. His record now stands at 1-4. Getting the save was Oliver Ando, his 5th.
Javier Feliz had a big 2-run triple for the Sidewinders in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Tucson trailing 3-2 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a slider from 21-year old right-handed pitcher Alec Young and swatted a triple to right. It was his 6th triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Sidewinders ahead, 4-3.
"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Feliz told the Tucson Today.
Iowa's current losing streak is now 5 games.
