Mets Take Tight Tilt
|
The Kingsport Mets did just enough to sneak past the Blue Ridge Bulldogs, 1-0, at Ballpark of Blue Ridge. Kingsport pitcher Nemo McIvor, in particular, had a standout performance. McIvor went 5.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 7. His record improves to 4-4. Trevor Bond got the save, the 2nd for him this season.
Johnny Utter, the 21-year old center fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Utter contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put Kingsport up, 1-0.
"Nemo -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Mets manager Xavier Cummins. "He was the key to us winning."
The win puts Kingsport at 38-26 this season.
