Jawns K-O Indians, 2-0
|
Ballpark of Kinston hosted a real pitchers' duel.
The Delco Jawns beat the Kinston Indians, 2-0. Delco pitcher and Lawton, Oklahoma, native Rod Lampkin led the way. In 6 innings, Lampkin surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. Earl Mortimer was credited with the save for Delco, his 11th of the season.
Truman Haigler, the 21-year old first baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Haigler contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Delco up, 2-0.
Haigler said afterward that "winning is what it's all about."
The 7th-place Jawns now have a win-loss record of 25-38.
