Though he had a terrific game, Matthew Purnell could not prevent his team, the Arizona Diamondbacks, from absorbing a loss. Vancouver won the game, 7-3. Purnell went 4-4 with a double and 3 singles. Arizona, at 26-28, has lost 4 straight.

The Cascades got a big at-bat from shortstop Graham O'Neill. For the game, O'Neill was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Vancouver a 2-0 lead.

"You can't take yourself too seriously," O'Neill told the Vancouver Gazette. "But at the end of the day, we do play to win ballgames."
