HarbourCats 2-1 Losers to Winnipeg
|
The Victoria HarbourCats wasted an impressive 8-inning effort from starter Tom Neal, falling, 2-1, to the Winnipeg Goldeyes at NBT Bank Stadium. The winner in relief was Justin Mandros. He is now 7-1. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. Jeremiah Huggard earned the save for Winnipeg, his 22nd.
Tom Sheppard, who is tied for 3rd in the PCL in total bases with 217, took Victoria hurler Tom Neal deep in the bottom of the fourth. His 2-run home run put the Goldeyes on top, 2-1. In all, Sheppard had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 3.
"We busted our tails," said Victoria manager Ricky Ugalde. "But we came up short."
The 'W' lifts Winnipeg's record to 63-60.
