The Victoria HarbourCats picked up a win at NBT Bank Stadium, taking down the Winnipeg Goldeyes, 2-1. Starting pitcher Fred Meyer was a big reason why. The winner was Meyer. He threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball. The loser was Pierce Finlay. By defeating Winnipeg, the 5th-place HarbourCats improved to 63-60.

The HarbourCats got an important contribution from first baseman Robby Chavez, who in the top of the second knocked a first pitch sinker to left for a run-scoring double. It was his 18th double of the season and put the HarbourCats ahead, 2-0.

"Watch and learn," said Chavez. "This is what good pitching looks like."
