Rainiers Edge Evansville in Pitching Duel
|
Tacoma pitcher J. David Thomas had a large part in his team beating the Evansville Triplets, 1-0. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. In 7 innings, Thomas surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 4. He allowed no runs. The victory gives Tacoma a record of 72-52.
Alexander Allen, who is tied for 9th in the PCL in triples with 4, had a direct impact on the outcome. Allen contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the first inning to put Tacoma up, 1-0.
In comments to the Tacoma News, Thomas insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.
