River Cats Win in Extras, 5-3
|
The New Orleans Baby Cakes got a whale of a performance from pitcher Jim Hemstreet, but the Sacramento River Cats still prevailed, 5-3, in 10 innings. Hemstreet threw 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball. Sacramento reliever Christopher Disch was the winner. His record is now 3-3. The losing pitcher was Denver Gentile. The River Cats raised their record to 50-68.
Sacramento used the timely hitting of J.C. Hector to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the tenth inning to put the River Cats on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It took some blood and sweat, but we got what we were after," said River Cats manager Adam Reid.
