Goldeyes Handled by Reno, 6-1
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Reno Aces and Winnipeg Goldeyes.
Reno Aces pitcher Matt Willard was in fine form, leading his team past the Winnipeg Goldeyes, 6-1. Willard, now 5-12, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 7, walking 3, and allowing 1 run.
The Aces got a big at-bat from first baseman Elwyn Katiyo. For the game, Katiyo went 1 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. In the bottom of the third, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 9th home run of the season gave Reno a 2-1 lead.
"Matt's not intimidated by who's stepping into the batter's box," said Reno manager Chris Footer.
Reno occupies last place in the Pacific Coast League Pacific Division at 38-79.
