River Cats Beat Express, 5-3
|
The Sacramento River Cats topped the Round Rock Express, 5-3, in Pacific Coast League action at River Cats Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to Sacramento pitcher and Sweetwater, Texas, native Reid Knepper. In 6.1 innings, Knepper surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. The save was Bernie Kiser's, his 25th.
The River Cats benefited from a costly error in the bottom of the seventh. With Dino Llorens at bat and Sacramento leading 4-3, the Round Rock miscue allowed Sacramento to plate 1 and take the lead, 5-3.
"We ground out the win," said Llorens. "That's all that matters."
Sacramento goes to 57-59, Round Rock to 59-57.
