Cubs Sting Chihuahuas, 6-1
|
The Iowa Cubs dealt the El Paso Chihuahuas a 6-1 loss at Southwest University park. Rich Henderson was the star on offense. He was 3-4 with 3 singles. Grant Hancock came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 4.2 innings. His record now stands at 1-4. The Cubs improved their record to 52-61 by beating El Paso.
Louis Tripp helped his team jump on top from the get-go. His first time up in the top of the first, he cranked a run-scoring single to give Iowa a 1-0 lead.
"I warned the team before the game," losing manager Sawyer Sandbach told reporters, "that I'm wearing the same pair of undies until we win."
