Round Rock Defeats El Paso, 3-2
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Round Rock Express and the El Paso Chihuahuas, 22-year old right-handed pitcher Elias Shorty proved to be the difference. The Round Rock right-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-2 Express win. Round Rock is now 54-62, while El Paso is 45-71.
Round Rock used a well-timed hit by Jack Shelton to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Express ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"All my pitches were working," said Shorty. "They were all synchronized together in attacking the zone."
