Sounds Top Baby Cakes in Extras, 3-2
|
The Nashville Sounds earned a close win over the New Orleans Baby Cakes, thanks in part to Evan Kiester. The Nashville right-hander played a key role in the 3-2 victory. Deacon DiFrancesco, who is tied for 10th in the PCL in holds with 7, earned the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 4 innings. He upped his record to 2-4. Nashville now has a record of 58-51 with the win.
Nashville used the timely hitting of Matias Vaquero to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 14th inning to put the Sounds on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 7 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"That was your kind of game, if you like high drama," said Sounds manager Ruben Almendarez.
