Tourists Beat Catfish, 7-3
|
The Asheville Tourists relied on the hitting of shortstop Travon Renard to stop the Columbus Catfish, 7-3. For the game, Renard went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. E.J. Warstler got credit for the win, improving to 4-4. He allowed 3 runs on 5 hits in 7.1 innings. Asheville is now 56-64, while Columbus is 60-60.
The game turned with no one out in the bottom of the fourth when Renard, who is tied for 3rd in the SAL in doubles with 30, hit a 2-run home run. It propelled the Tourists into the lead, 2-0.
"They played a better game than we did," said Columbus skipper Francisco Avalos.
