Beverly Stars in 8-4 Win for Columbus
|
The Columbus Catfish beat the Asheville Tourists by a score of 8-4. Columbus third baseman Otis Beverly deserved the lion's share of the credit. Beverly went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks. He scored 3 times and drove in 2 for the Catfish. Sammy Crawley, 5-4, earned the win in relief. He allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in 1.1 innings. Pedro Ramírez nailed down his 1st save.
Making an impact for Columbus was center fielder Jonah Walker. He drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the third. For the game, Walker was 2-5 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3.
"I'm a bit of a clubhouse prankster," said Beverly. "But it's all business when we're on the field."
Columbus bumps their record to 59-58 with the win.
