Bowling Green Makes Asheville 2-0 Losers
|
Aiden Mattix was terrific for the Bowling Green Hot Rods in his team's 2-0 triumph over the Asheville Tourists. His performance earned Mattix rave reviews. Mattix, the winner, moves to 4-7. He threw 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 3 walks. Getting the save was Sean Anderson, his 17th.
The game was on the line with two out in the top of the seventh inning, but Timmy Thompson didn't flinch. With the bases loaded and Asheville trailing 2-0, Thompson retired Jamison Depew to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Thompson, with a wink.
The Hot Rods move to 66-50 with the win, while the Tourists drop to 49-67.
