Cubs Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Rangers, 7-5
The Chicago Cubs besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Texas catcher Joel Schmitt by beating the Rangers, 7-5, at Wrigley Field. Schmitt went 2-4 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The 4th-place Cubs improved to 23-30.

The Cubs got a big at-bat from right fielder Zach Hicks. For the game, Hicks was 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Chicago a 4-2 lead.

"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Hicks said.
