Cardeñas Shines in 4-2 Kannapolis Win
|
The Kannapolis Intimidators topped the Columbus Catfish, 4-2, with youngster Téo Cardeñas playing a key role. Cardeñas was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for the Intimidators in the win. Bang Niemi earned his 28th save in 33 chances. The Intimidators, at 65-46, sit in second place in the South Atlantic League Carolina Division.
Cardeñas had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a full count fastball from Riley Ridenour, he banged a 3-run home run to center, giving the Intimidators a 4-1 lead. It was the 27th home run of the year for Cardeñas.
"Bottom line," said Columbus skipper Francisco Avalos, "we didn't play well enough to win."
