Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for RiverDogs
|
Due in part to center fielder Peter Jordan, the Charleston RiverDogs chopped down the Hagerstown Suns, 8-5, in 11 innings. Jordan was 4 for 6 with 4 singles, while scoring 2. Mário Coronel, now 4-5, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in 1.2 innings. The RiverDogs improved to 48-64.
Charleston used a timely hit from Andy Huff to get the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the 11th inning to put the RiverDogs ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"You can't take yourself too seriously," Jordan told the Charleston Daily. "But at the end of the day, we do play to win ballgames."
