The rain came, as predicted, but the Columbia Fireflies and Delmarva Shorebirds were able to complete their ballgame.

The Columbia Fireflies defeated the Delmarva Shorebirds, 7-6, at Spirit Communications Park. Marc Jones, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2059 draft, was a standout performer for Columbia. His 3 hits included 2 singles and 1 double -- this in addition to the 2 runs he scored and 1 he knocked in. The winner in relief was Charlie Wieser. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. He now owns a record of 8-1.

The Fireflies got a big at-bat from shortstop Elton Dacuno. For the game, Dacuno was 1-5 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 18th double of the season gave Columbia a 7-6 lead.
