Barbour Swings Crawdads to 4-1 Win
|
The 4-1 Hickory win over Rome was due largely to Emery Barbour. The Crawdads second baseman was 3-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. The winner was Lorne Monceaux, who threw 75 pitches over 5.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with 1 run on 3 hits. The Crawdads are now 62-50, while the Braves fall to 54-58.
Dylan Jackson had a big run-scoring double for the Crawdads in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Hickory leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a knuckleball from 22-year old left-handed pitcher Elijah Goodman and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 14th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Crawdads ahead, 3-1.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Jackson.
