Aces Earn Late Win
|
Despite a great performance by Tulsa left fielder Luke Cantrell, the Alexandria Aces defeated the Drillers by the score of 4-3 at Hammons Field. Cantrell went 3-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The winner in relief was Marco Walker. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. He now owns a record of 4-0. Phil Winston got the save, the 18th for him this season.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for E.J. Woodis? The 23-year old second baseman Woodis stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put Alexandria up, 4-3. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"We found a way to get it done," Woodis said.
At 56-51, the Aces are currently 4th in the Southern League Texas Division.
