Narrow Win Takes Arkansas Streak to 8
|
The Arkansas Travelers downed the Rocket City Trash Pandas, 6-5, in 14 innings at Hank Aaron Stadium. The Travelers were led by Crispin Hoge. Hoge went 3 for 6 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Josh Boice earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. He upped his record to 3-2. Roberto Abreu was called on to finish, recording his 2nd save.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Micky Iacone came to bat in the top of the 14th. Facing Rocket City pitcher Logan Graves, he hit a 2-1 splitter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Arkansas on top, 6-5.
"This game tested our mettle," said Hoge.
Arkansas leads the Southern League Texas Division by 7 games.
