The Midland RockHounds got a marvelous performance from pitcher Luke Wheeler. The right-hander kept the Northwest Arkansas offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 3-2 Midland victory at Security Bank Ballpark. Wheeler yielded 2 runs over 5.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. His record improves to 13-3. LaRay Bartley wrapped it up, recording his 3rd save.

Desmond Baca drove in one run for Midland. The 26-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Zat Quinones. It was his 35th RBI of the season.

"I still think this team can play even better," Baca told the Midland Observer.

Midland, now 57-44, holds down 4th place in the Southern League Texas Division.
