Big Day for Chavez as Cubs Down Goldeyes, 5-4
The Iowa Cubs stopped the Winnipeg Goldeyes, 5-4, at Principal Park. The Cubs got a big game from Justino Chavez, who was 3 for 3 with a home run and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Trent Akins earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3.1 innings. He upped his record to 2-0. Fry Stalnacker closed it out for Iowa, earning his 11th save.

Chavez contributed in the bottom of the fourth. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a 2-run double. It was one at-bat among others that helped Iowa get the win.

"You need to show up when your number's called," said Chavez.
