Goldeyes Fall, 4-1, to Nashville
|
At First Tennessee Park, the Winnipeg Goldeyes and Nashville Sounds were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
Vito Medina was locked and loaded, helping the Nashville Sounds beat the Winnipeg Goldeyes, 4-1. In 7.2 innings, Medina surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 2. He allowed no runs.
Bob Stechschulte had a big 2-run home run for the Sounds in the bottom of the third inning. With Nashville leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a cutter from 28-year old right-handed pitcher Ahmad Brown and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Sounds on top, 3-0.
"Vito was dictating to their hitters," said Nashville manager Ruben Almendarez.
Nashville now sits at 44-53, while Winnipeg falls to 57-40.
