Despite a great performance by Honolulu second baseman Augustin Pineira, the Sacramento River Cats defeated the ThunderSharks by the score of 6-5 at River Cats Ballpark. Pineira went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The 5th-place River Cats improved to 52-47.

The decisive blow was delivered by Mason Townsend in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a run-scoring double off 22-year old right-handed pitcher Gilroy Hovanec to win the game for Sacramento. The home crowd went nuts.

"Great to get the crowd on its feet," Townsend said.
