Rainiers Win Close Shave, 7-6
|
New Orleans designated hitter Sam Calder had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Calder hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice, even as Tacoma beat the Baby Cakes, 7-6. The Rainiers go to 61-36, putting them first in the Pacific Coast League Pacific Division.
The Rainiers procured the win, in large part because of left fielder Marcos Hampton. In the bottom of the 15th, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single.
"This is a resilient bunch," said Tacoma manager Danny Jennings.
