Evansville Picks Up Another L
|
Riding the 2-hit performance of the 33-year old right fielder Clifford Bills, the Omaha Storm Chasers defeated the Evansville Triplets, 6-1. Thomas Shear was the winner. Over 5.1 innings, he yielded no runs on 6 hits, with no walks and 6 strikeouts. Picking up the save was 25-year old right-handed pitcher Carter Eich.
Omaha used a clutch at-bat from Zander Thompson to capture the win. The first baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Storm Chasers ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"I warned the team before the game," losing manager Mike McGarry told reporters, "that I'm wearing the same pair of undies until we win."
The slumping Triplets have lost 6 straight.
