Starting pitcher Vince Stapleton gave the Winnipeg Goldeyes a rock-solid effort. The Pawtucket, Rhode Island native helped his team defeat the Round Rock Express, 2-1, at NBT Bank Stadium. Ian Poppova nailed down his 13th save. Winnipeg is now 41-54.

Joel Schmitt aided the Winnipeg cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second. For the game, the catcher drove in one run.

"The old adage is true," said Schmitt. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
