Baby Cakes Hold Off Edge, 5-4

Zephyr Field was the site of an exciting ballgame between the New Orleans Baby Cakes and Edmonton Edge.
The New Orleans Baby Cakes withstood a fine game by Edmonton shortstop Steve Walker at Zephyr Field, to upend the Edge, 5-4. Walker hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. The winning pitcher was John Puron. He tossed 105 pitches over 7.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits.
The Baby Cakes got a big boost from second baseman Weston Belville who had a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the first inning off Edge hurler Ernest Baldwin. It was his 40th RBI of the season and put New Orleans on top, 1-0.
New Orleans manager Bobby Gomez said his team played a "no nonsense" game.
The Baby Cakes bumped their record to 49-46 with this win.
