Edmonton Keeps Trending in Wrong Direction
|
The losses keep piling up for the Edmonton Edge.
The New Orleans Baby Cakes topped the Edmonton Edge, 7-4, in Pacific Coast League action at Zephyr Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of New Orleans pitcher Jude Gruen. The winning pitcher was Gruen, now 4-6. He tossed 8.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 5. Ash Watson earned the save for New Orleans, his 4th of the year.
In the bottom of the third inning, the Baby Cakes grabbed the lead when Weston Belville rapped a two-out single. New Orleans was trailing 2-1, when Belville hit a 2-run single off Nathanael Parnell to put his team in front, 3-2.
"This game will humble you at times and you've got to buck up and deal with it," said Edmonton manager Aarón Lomeli.
With the victory, the Baby Cakes upped their record to 48-45.
