66ers Subdue Victoria, 6-4
|
Behind the hitting of Mateo Matos, the Inland Empire 66ers clipped the Victoria HarbourCats, 6-4. Matos was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 3 for the 66ers. Zach Casley closed out the game, earning his 2nd save. Inland Empire, at 47-38, sits in 4th place in the Pacific Coast League Pacific Division.
Matos had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 2-1 fastball from Toyo Ajayi, he banged a 3-run home run to left-center, giving the 66ers a 5-4 lead. It was the 5th home run of the year for Matos.
"We were able to put some good swings on some pitches," Matos told the Inland Empire Observer.
