66ers Handle Winnipeg, Snag 2-1 Win
|
Finlay Garrett never let the Goldeyes get in a groove. The left-hander used his bread and butter, his slider, to pitch the 66ers to a win, 2-1. Inland Empire reliever John Xiong snagged the win, upping his record to 1-1. Chad Helton shouldered the loss. Jonathas Aguillon notched his 3rd save of the season.
Inland Empire used a timely hit from Kayden Oldham to get the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the 66ers ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"Tough loss," said Winnipeg manager Baltemar De León. "The kind that burns a little inside."
Inland Empire now has a record of 51-37 with the win.
