River Cats Collect 6-2 Win Versus Evansville
|
Sacramento took on Evansville in front of a lively crowd.
The Sacramento River Cats got a stellar performance from pitcher John Simmons, who handcuffed the Evansville offense en route to a win, 6-2, at BB&T Stadium. The winner was Simmons. He threw 6.1 innings allowing 1 run. The loser was Rocco Chase.
It could have been a different outcome for Sacramento, had it not been for Kerry Pietrzak, the 38-year old first baseman . Pietrzak contributed a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning to put Sacramento up, 3-1.
"I threw strikes with all my pitches," said Simmons. "I had them eating out of my hand."
Sacramento bumps their record to 43-40 with the win.
