66ers Lose By a Run at Tacoma
|
Though he had a stellar game, Kevin Rabel could not prevent his team, the Inland Empire 66ers, from losing, 5-4, to the Tacoma Rainiers. Rabel was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times. Woody Felan notched his 22nd save in 24 chances. The first-place Rainiers improved to 51-33.
The Rainiers got a big at-bat from second baseman Jack Latham. For the game, Latham went 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 9th home run of the season gave Tacoma a 5-4 lead.
"We ground out the win," said Latham. "That's all that matters."
