HarbourCats Score Late to Beat ThunderSharks, 5-4
|
The Victoria HarbourCats and Honolulu ThunderSharks played an entertaining game for Smith's Ballpark patrons.
The Victoria HarbourCats took Honolulu pitcher Blair Dayton's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Smith's Ballpark. The final score had Victoria getting past the ThunderSharks, 5-4. Dayton went 7.1 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 7. Eulogio Gusman, now 2-0, was credited with the win in 0.1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 0 and walking 0. Ara Lester locked down his 8th save.
Victoria used a clutch hit from Jeremy Bath to get the win. The catcher drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the HarbourCats ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a doozy.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Victoria manager Ricky Ugalde.
The win makes Victoria 45-32.
