Loss to Sounds Extends Iowa Losing Streak
|
The Nashville Sounds topped the Iowa Cubs, 5-1, in Pacific Coast League action at First Tennessee Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Nashville pitcher Danny Lennox. Lennox picked up the win for Nashville, going 7.2 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 6-5. The losses continue to add up for Iowa, which has now fallen 10 times in a row.
The Sounds got a big hit from right fielder Amistad Berrios. In the bottom of the fifth, Berrios pounded a 2-run home run to right. His 12th home run of the season put the Sounds ahead, 3-1.
"The team always comes first, so pulling out the win on a day like today is the most important thing," Lennox told a reporter while responding to autograph requests. "Our fans like to come out to see a win, so I'm happy to do what I can to give them that."
