Goldeyes Come Back Late to Clip 66ers
|
The Goldeyes grabbed a win, 4-3, at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, overcoming a fine effort from Inland Empire pitcher Cal Gilbert. Gilbert went 8 innings and allowed 3 runs. Winnipeg is now 49-31, Inland Empire 44-36.
Winnipeg used the timely hitting of Tom Sheppard to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Goldeyes on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Sheppard attributed the win to "concerted effort and focus."
