Goldeyes Bang Out 8-5 Win Versus Tucson
|
The Winnipeg Goldeyes defeated the Tucson Sidewinders, 8-5, at Greater Nevada Field today. Leading the charge for Winnipeg was right fielder Stefan Higgins. He was 3-4 with 2 doubles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Alan Johnson notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 2.2 innings. His record now sits at 3-3. The triumph puts Winnipeg at 44-35 for the season.
Rick Sheley, the 23-year old second baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Sheley contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the third inning to put Winnipeg up, 3-1.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Higgins told the Winnipeg Daily News.
