Isotopes Pin 5-2 Loss on Victoria
|
The Albuquerque Isotopes picked up a win at Security Service Field, defeating the Victoria HarbourCats, 5-2. Starting pitcher Zach Kerwick was an essential part of his team's success. Kerwick, now 7-1, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 3, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs. At 33-31, the Isotopes are currently 6th in the Pacific Coast League Pacific Division.
Albuquerque needed the clutch hitting of Lyle Maturo to seal the deal. The designated hitter swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Isotopes on top, 4-2. For the game, Maturo had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
Said losing manager Ricky Ugalde: "I think Susan Sarandon said it, 'Hit it where they ain't.' We didn't do a very good job of that tonight."
