Orioles Handed 5-4 Loss by Cleveland
|
The Cleveland Indians dealt the Baltimore Orioles a 5-4 loss at Tecumseh Field. Anibal Gaines was the star on offense. He went 2 for 4 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The winner in relief was Easton Wilson. He is now 3-1. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 2 innings. Rafael Antonello sewed up the save, his 2nd.
Had Paquito Peña not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Peña hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Indians.
"This was a good win," said Peña.
Cleveland's record now stands at 26-24, placing them second in the Eastern Region Great Lakes Division.
