The Colorado Rockies trumped the California Angels, 9-4, at Coors Field. Colorado right fielder Luke Martin was terrific. He belted 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. Julian Lewis, the winner, goes to 7-1. He allowed 3 runs on 4 hits, with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts over 6 innings. The American League Alvarado Division-leading Rockies are 32-17.

Atlas Alvarado had a big 2-run home run for the Rockies in the bottom of the third inning. With Colorado leading 2-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a curveball from 31-year old left-handed pitcher Jools Anthony and punished it. The result was his 17th home run of the season, which put the Rockies on top, 4-0.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Martin told the Colorado Daily News. "It's as simple as that."
