66ers Come Up Short at Edmonton, 4-3
|
The Edge grabbed a win, 4-3, at Field of the Edge, overcoming a fine effort from Inland Empire pitcher Will Fontaine. Fontaine went 5 innings and allowed 2 runs. Vince Assem, now 1-2, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 1 and walking 0. Sebastian Anderson sewed up the save, his 10th.
Edmonton took a 4-2 lead on Sawyer Hubbs's 2nd double of the season. The 2-run double, which Hubbs hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Inland Empire pitcher Edgar Owens visibly frustrated.
"Winning never gets dull," said Hubbs.
The first-place Edge have a one-game lead in their division.
