Cubs Win at Reno, 3-1
|
The Iowa Cubs beat the Reno Aces, 3-1, at Blues Stadium. Starting pitcher Benjamin Hullis was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Hullis yielded 1 run over 5.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. His record improves to 1-1. Cody Widener finished to wrap up his 1st save.
Alex Gordon, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2055 draft, had a direct impact on the outcome. Gordon contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Iowa up, 2-0.
In postgame remarks, Gordon hailed his team's "mettle."
Iowa is now 22-26, Reno 12-36.
